The most recent technology that I explored was Podcasting. Podcasting is an audio file that is distributed over the internet. I became aware of podcasting when I was able to listen to podcasts on my iTunes and iPod. Podcasts allow you to listen to audio, such as radio programs, by saving the podcast files to a computer and then to an iPod or MP3 player so it can be listened to whenever and wherever.
For making my own podcast, I decided to read the children's book, Madeline's Rescue by Ludwig Bemelman. In order to make my podcast I used GarageBand. This program allows me to add music to the background of my file. Therefore, I was able to add an instrumental song in the background of me reading the book. Learning to use the technology wasn't too difficult. Like most new technological endeavors, experimenting is key. I had used GarageBand in the past to combine and edit songs, so this previous experience was helpful. The main functions needed for my podcast were being able to delete the pauses or stumbles from reading the book and cutting and combining the music to put in the background. I believe that GarageBand is very user friendly and I am sure there are many online manuals that explain how to work the program.
I transfered my podcast into an iTunes file so that it is easy to add to my iPod. The following link is the podcast I created:
Very cool idea reading a childrens book! That's quite applicable in the education field! You're lucky to have used GarageBand in the past. I was new to Audacity and I struggled with it a bit. From my experience, GarageBand is a bit more user friendly than Audacity. I'm having this problem with every podcast, but I can't open yours? I don't know why! :(
ReplyDeleteYou have introduced your podcast very well and did a great job combining the background music to your reading.I would give you an "A" if i could...good job Stacy
ReplyDeleteI agree with Doctor Robby. I thought the Madeline story was a great idea and you read it with perfect expression. You must be an actress of some sort because you read it extremely well. Great job Stacy!
ReplyDeleteI thought that you read a great book, and Good job using music in the background while you were reading!
ReplyDeleteokay so this is driving me nuts! It sounds like some people could hear yours, but unfortunetly I couldn't and I would have loved to hear it because I am a big fan of childrens books. Well it sounds like you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI can't view your podcast. Technology is not our friends it seems to be. Good luck though.
ReplyDeleteI also cannot view your podcast. I thought the idea however was very cute and appropriate. Sounds like you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteI was "forbidden access" to listen to your podcast, but from the sound of things it was was good. I think that the book you had selected was a good choice as well.
